Online Citizen's Complaints

The Salinas Police Department accepts citizen's complaints "On-Line." 

If you would like to complain about the actions of a Salinas Police Department employee, please complete the form below and a supervisor will contact you as soon as possible.

Please fill in the form as completely as possible so that we may begin investigating your complaint. To navigate through the complaint form fields below, use your mouse to click in the individual fields and type in the required information. Using the tab key on your keyboard will also move your cursor from one field to the next. Please do not use the enter or return key on your keyboard to move between the different fields as pressing the enter or return key will cause the form to be submitted prematurely. 

When you submit an online complaint form, it is automatically E-mailed to the Salinas Police Department. E-mails and online complaint forms are collected and distributed throughout the day, Monday - Thursday, 7:30 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. (holidays excluded). Once your complaint has been received,  a supervisor will contact you as soon as possible to follow-up on the information provided. YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE A COMPLAINT AGAINST AN OFFICER FOR ANY IMPROPER POLICE CONDUCT. CALIFORNIA LAW REQUIRES THIS AGENCY TO HAVE A PROCEDURE TO INVESTIGATE CITIZEN'S COMPLAINTS. YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO A WRITTEN DESCRIPTION OF THIS PROCEDURE. THIS AGENCY MAY FIND AFTER INVESTIGATION THAT THERE IS NOT ENOUGH EVIDENCE TO WARRANT ACTION ON YOUR COMPLAINT; EVEN IF THAT IS THE CASE, YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE A COMPLAINT AND HAVE IT INVESTIGATED IF YOU BELIEVE AN OFFICER BEHAVED IMPROPERLY. CITIZEN'S COMPLAINTS AND ANY REPORTS OR FINDINGS RELATING TO COMPLAINTS MUST BE RETAINED BY THIS AGENCY FOR AT LEAST (5) FIVE YEARS.
