Police Officer Position Information

YOU MAY ENTER AT ONE OF THE FOLLOWING LEVELS:

RECRUIT (while attending the police academy). 

Police Recruit is a full-time, non-sworn classification with full-benefits. While in the academy, recruits receive a salary of $4,604.00 per month as well as compensation for mileage and per-diem. Recruitment for the Police Recruit position is now closed and may re-open in January of 2009.

ACADEMY GRADUATE 

Requires possession of a current academy completion certificate awarded by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.)

LATERAL 

Requires possession of a current P.O.S.T. Basic Law Enforcement certificate.

The monthly salary range for all officers is shown on the City's Salary Schedule under Public Safety. The starting pay for Lateral positions is dependent upon experience. A longevity increase is available for those officers meeting performance and time in grade requirements.
