CONSIDER ARMED AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.  TAKE NO ACTION TO APPREHEND THIS PERSON YOURSELF. REPORT ANY INFORMATION TO THE SALINAS POLICE DEPARTMENT.

 

On October 27, 2001, Cesar Campa Avila viciously beat his girlfriend to death with a heavy, blunt object in what appears to be unprovoked attack.  Avila is considered a danger to the community and may have committed a previous murder in Mexico.  Additionally, Avila is known to be a heavy drug and alcohol user.

Hours after the murder, Avila is alleged to have stolen a white, 1984 GMC Jimmy, bearing California license plate number 3VGG689, from a person in the city of Gilroy, CA.  Avila has family members in Gilroy and may still be in the general area.  The other possible destinations for Avila are San Luis, Mexico or Yuma, Arizona.
