On 11-19-99, Elias Diaz age 39, was shot and killed in the parking lot of his business located at 435 E. Alisal St. The business, Country Motors, was doing well and Mr. Diaz had many friends in the community.
The suspect walked onto the car lot and asked for Mr. Diaz by name. After a brief conversation, the suspect shot Elias Diaz. The suspect fled the scene and discarded items of clothing and the murder weapon a short distance away. Police recovered these items. Based on the methods used, Police believe the suspect was hired to commit the murder.
The suspect was described as a 30 year old Hispanic male, 5-11 185 pounds. He was wearing a white cowboy hat, black leather jacket and a checkered shirt. Witness said he spoke Spanish and had a dark mustache. One witness described the suspect as sounding effeminate when he spoke.
