ARMED and DANGEROUS
On March 25, 1999, Merendon and a relative murdered the victim by shooting him at close range with a shotgun. After the shooting Merendon fled the area with the shotgun. A vehicle used in the crime has since been recovered.
Since the shooting, Merendon may have fled to as far away as Mexico but may also be in the Watsonville area with relatives.
Merendon is a Sureno gang member and will seek out other "blue raggers" for support.
