Manuel Perrien, Deputy Chief

Manny started his law enforcement career in 1979 with the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office. While at the Sheriff’s Office, Manny worked as Field Training Officer, a member of the Rescue and Reaction Team (SWAT), and a detective. Manny was named Deputy of the Year for the Sheriff’s Office twice during his 7-year tenure at that department.

Manny came to the Salinas Police Department in 1986. For the first few years, Manny worked both as a patrol officer and as a School Resource Officer, and in 1990 was promoted to Detective. Manny was named Officer of the Year for the Salinas Police Department in 1990.

At Salinas PD, Manny has worked as a Juvenile Detective, School Resource Officer, Narcotics Detective, Field Training Officer, Patrol Corporal, Corporal in the Special Enforcement Team (Gang Unit), Patrol Sergeant, Internal Affairs/Administrative Sergeant, Narcotics Sergeant, Detective Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, Investigations Lieutenant, Investigations Commander, SWAT and Hostage Negotiations Team Commander, Area Commander for South Salinas, and currently is Deputy Chief in charge of Investigations and Administration.
