My neighbors keep a rooster in their backyard. Is this legal?
No. The Salinas Municipal Code prohibits any fowl or livestock to be kept as pets. This includes pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, etc. Roosters are especially bothersome because of the noise they create and the fact they are sometimes used for cockfights and gambling.

Location: Parking lot of 975 Blanco Cir. - Denny's
Officers responded to an armed robbery in the parking lot of Denny's Restaurant located in the 900 block of W. Blanco Dr. An employee of the restaurant was walking to his vehicle, as he intended to drive to the bank to make a business deposit. Two suspects accosted the victim and demanded he turn over the money. One of the two suspects brandished a handgun and threatened the victim (44) who complied with the assailants demands, turning over an undisclosed amount of cash.
Both suspects fled on foot towards the rear of the business. An extensive search of the area failed to locate the suspects, who were describe as white male adults. One was wearing sunglasses.
The investigation is continuing.
