No. The Salinas Municipal Code prohibits any fowl or livestock to be kept as pets. This includes pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, etc. Roosters are especially bothersome because of the noise they create and the fact they are sometimes used for cockfights and gambling.

Officers responded to a past tense robbery and attempted murder call in the area of Kern St. near Market St. The victim had suffered several stab wounds to his back and chest area and had been transported to the hospital by private vehicle. The investigation revealed the victim (32) had left the Los Altos Club on Alisal St. and met three females outside the club. After some conversation, they convinced the victim to get a room at a nearby motel and continue to party. The group walked to Kern St. and Kings St. area were they attempted to get a room at a motel but were refused.
In the process, the victim changed his mind and did not want to socialize with the three females anymore so he asked for the cash he had given one of the females to rent the motel room back. The female refused to give the money back initially but after some arguing returned it. The victim decided it was time to separate from the group.
After walking a short time, the victim noticed a white older model Pontiac or Oldsmobile type vehicle drive by him slowly and stop near him. Exiting the vehicle was one of the three females he had met earlier, she proceeded to run at him from behind and started stabbing him with a sharp blunt object. The victim turned around and tried to defend himself by grabbing the female suspects arms but in the process, the victim was stabbed twice more to the chest area.
The suspect reached into the victims pockets and removed cash and his cell phone before running back to the white older vehicle which fled southbound on N. Madeira Ave. The victim was able to go to a family member's residence and was subsequently transported to the hospital. The victims injuries were serious to critical but stable when he was transported to a Bay area hospital.
The victim described the suspects as #1 Hispanic female 20-30 years of age, medium build approximately 5'6" and wearing black pants and a short sleeved shirt. This suspect had curly black hair. #2 was described as an Asian female 20-30 years of age 5"4', medium build wearing black pants with shoulder length black hair. No description on #3. The investigation continues.
