My neighbors keep a rooster in their backyard. Is this legal?
No. The Salinas Municipal Code prohibits any fowl or livestock to be kept as pets. This includes pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, etc. Roosters are especially bothersome because of the noise they create and the fact they are sometimes used for cockfights and gambling.

Location: Parking Lot of 1363 N. Davis Rd. - Starbucks
The manager of Starbucks was walking to her vehicle with a bank deposit for the business. As she reached her vehicle, she was approached by the suspect who was described as a White male, 20's, 5'10, medium build, wearing a florescent yellow reflective traffic type vest over a white t-shirt, and dirty jeans. He was also wearing a white and red baseball cap. He was armed with a black semi-auto handgun. He demanded the victim's bag at gunpoint. She complied and he ran through the lot and across to the Costco parking lot where he got into the driver's seat of a brown Honda Civic two door. He was last seen driving on Westridge Pkwy turning southbound on Boronda Rd. An extensive area check met with negative results for the suspect or vehicle. BOL placed. Investigation continues.
