My neighbors keep a rooster in their backyard. Is this legal?
No. The Salinas Municipal Code prohibits any fowl or livestock to be kept as pets. This includes pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, etc. Roosters are especially bothersome because of the noise they create and the fact they are sometimes used for cockfights and gambling.

Location: 800 block of East Alisal Street
Three victims stepped from a bus behind a business they were approached by two Hispanic males in their 20's. One of the suspects possessed a knife and the other simulated a handgun in his waistband. The victims were ordered to hand over their property. The victims handed over their phones/wallets. One suspect punched a victim in the face. No medical treatment was required. The two suspects may have left in a red, possible 90's model Nissan passenger car. They were last seen in the area of John and Main Street where the victims lost sight of them. Suspect #1: HM 5-5 thin 20's clean shaven red shirt, red shorts, white shoes and 6" knife. Suspect #2 HM 5-6 thin 20's clean shaven Gray sweatshirt and blue jean shorts.
