No. The Salinas Municipal Code prohibits any fowl or livestock to be kept as pets. This includes pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, etc. Roosters are especially bothersome because of the noise they create and the fact they are sometimes used for cockfights and gambling.

Location: Towt Street and Freedom Parkway
Officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of Oso Court regarding a victim of a shooting. Upon arrival officers contacted the victim who had sustained several gunshot wounds to his lower legs. The wound did not appear to be life threatening. The victim was walking by himself in the area of Towt Street and Freedom Parkway. A blue 4 door car pulled up and two suspects shot multiple times at him. The case is being investigated as gang related.
