My neighbors keep a rooster in their backyard. Is this legal?
No. The Salinas Municipal Code prohibits any fowl or livestock to be kept as pets. This includes pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, etc. Roosters are especially bothersome because of the noise they create and the fact they are sometimes used for cockfights and gambling.

Location: Paseo Grande and Towt Street
Officers responded to Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital regarding the victim of a shooting. Officer believed that this was going to be related to the earlier shooting on Cachuma Court. The victim sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his lower torso. The victim denied that the two shootings were related and claims not to be a gang member. The victim stated that he was at Paseo Grande and Towt when he heard several gunshots and realized he had been shot. He went to a friends house and was transported to SVMH.
