Location: E. Market St. & First Ave.

A 42 year old male was drving in the area of E. Market St. and First Ave. when he was approached by a vehicle with four occupants wearing hoodies. One of the passengers leaned out the window and fired a gun several times at the victim, striking him once on the arm. He drove himself to a local hospital for treatment to his non life-threatening injuries.  The suspect vehicle was described as a gray or blue Nissan Altima.  There is no further information on the suspects or vehicle at this time.  The shooting is being investigated as gang-related.

No. The Salinas Municipal Code  prohibits any fowl or livestock to be kept as pets. This includes pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, etc. Roosters are especially bothersome because of the noise they create and the fact they are sometimes used for cockfights and gambling.
