Location: 700 Block of Elkington Ave.

Salinas Police Officers responded to the 700-block area of Elkington Ave. for a reported victim of a shooting. A 27 year old male was found in the parking lot of the complex with multiple gunshot wounds. According to witnesses, a silver BMW was seen fleeing northbound on Elkington after the shooting. Before the vehicle reached N. Sanborn Rd., it stopped next to a white Civic heading the opposite way. A male exited the BMW and got into the Civic.  Both cars then fled in opposite directions. The person seen changing vehicles wore a red hoodie.  The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-lifethreatening wounds to his upper torso and face area.  He stated he was approached by three Hispanic males, who asked him what they claimed. When the victim denied gang involvement, two of the suspects shot him.  He has a history of gang-related contacts with the police department.
