My neighbors keep a rooster in their backyard. Is this legal?
No. The Salinas Municipal Code prohibits any fowl or livestock to be kept as pets. This includes pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, etc. Roosters are especially bothersome because of the noise they create and the fact they are sometimes used for cockfights and gambling.

Two men, one 25 and the other 22, were standing in front of apartment an apartment when 3-4 Hispanic males approached them. One victim saw that at least one of the suspects was holding a handgun, so he just turned and ran. Multiple shots were fired and one victim was hit several times in his pelvic area and the other was hit in both of his lower legs. No words were exchanged prior to the shooting.
All three of the suspects may have been armed with handguns and involved in the shooting.
Nobody was able to say where the suspects fled after the shooting as everyone was taking cover, or trying to get away.
The victim that was hit in the pelvic area was flown to a bay area hospital and the victim hit in the legs was treated locally. This is being investigated as gang related.
