No. The Salinas Municipal Code prohibits any fowl or livestock to be kept as pets. This includes pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, etc. Roosters are especially bothersome because of the noise they create and the fact they are sometimes used for cockfights and gambling.

Location: 400 Block of Circle Dr.
Officer responded to a victim of a stabbing after a domestic dispute in the 400 block area of Circle Dr. The female victim sustained stab wounds to her breast and abdominal area. She was flown to a Bay Area trauma center and is expected to survive her injuries. The suspect, Armando Ledesma, 33, fled before officers arrived. The incident occurred in front of the victim's children. Anyone with information on Ledesma's whereabouts is asked to contact Detective Michael Rivera at (831) 768-7971.
