Location: Natividad Creek Park
On 6-15-2013, Saturday morning, Salinas Police Department officers responded to a call of a body found near the creek bed at Natividad Creek Park in the area of the 700 block of Garner Ave. The badly decomposed body was found by a city crew doing some cleaning work near the creek bed.
It appears the body is of a female but due to the state of decomposition we are unable to confirm this at this point. An autopsy has been completed and the results proved to be inconclusive in identifying the human remains. DNA from the body has been submitted to the Department of Justice Laboratory for further analysis.
Due to the circumstances of this incident and those of the on going homicide investigation of Leticia Morales Soto whose body has not been found, Salinas Police Department Detectives have reached out to Leticia Morales Soto's family and advised them of the situation related to the body found in the event the remains are later determined to be those of Morales Soto.
At this point the body found case is being investigated as a suspicious circumstances death.
No further information is available at this time.
