Burglarly suspect shot by resident

On 4/14/14 at 4:20 A.M., Officers responded to the 700 block of Leese Dr. regarding a burglary suspect shot by a resident. When Officers arrived, Ray Espino (27) was contacted and determined to have a single gunshot wound. Investigation revealed while a lone Leese Dr. resident was sleeping in his home, he was awakened by suspicious noises coming from the front of his property. The resident also observed an unknown person walking across his property and towards his garage which is an attached garage to his home. In fear for his personal safety, the resident armed himself and went to his garage to investigate what he had seen and heard. When the resident entered his garage, he was frightened by Espino who had just entered his garage. In fear for his personal safety the resident shot Espino one time. Espino was transported to a bay area hospital and is currently in critical condition.
