My neighbors keep a rooster in their backyard. Is this legal?
No. The Salinas Municipal Code prohibits any fowl or livestock to be kept as pets. This includes pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, etc. Roosters are especially bothersome because of the noise they create and the fact they are sometimes used for cockfights and gambling.

Over the past couple of weeks, a business located in the 1000 block of S. Main St. has been burglarized or vandalized several times. The owner recently installed a surveillance system. On Saturday, the business was burglarized again. Officers were able to retrieve video footage which captured the break in.
Officers recognized the suspect who they are familiar with from previous contacts. They went to the area the suspect is known to frequent. A short time later, the officers located Albert Key (56) who was identified as the burglary suspect, he was arrested.
Key provided false information to officers related to his identity. Key also had a parole warrant for his arrest. Key was later transported to the county jail were he was booked on the listed charges.
