No. The Salinas Municipal Code prohibits any fowl or livestock to be kept as pets. This includes pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, etc. Roosters are especially bothersome because of the noise they create and the fact they are sometimes used for cockfights and gambling.

On March 25th, 2014, Adam Frogel (57) turned himself in to the Salinas Police Department after being identified and contacted as the suspect in alleged child molestation.
Frogel is a contract employee from the state of Florida and contracted through the Monterey County Office of Education to provide services to special needs children. Contrary to a prior news release, Frogel is not an employee of the Salinas Union High School District.
After school hours and at on off-site location, Frogel is alleged to have had inappropriate sexual relations with two minor victims.
Frogel was lodged at the Monterey County Jail for multiple counts of sexual crimes with a minor. His bail was set at $500,000.00 dollars.
