An officer on patrol in the area of Towt St at Alisal St. heard a crash nearby and later discovered a Ford Taurus had struck a power pole nearby. The vehicle with major damage came to rest on the front lawn of El Sausal Middle School. The (46) year old driver was not seriously injured. The investigation revealed the driver had intentionally struck the power pole as he attempted to injure himself due to being depressed.
The driver exhibited objective symptoms of intoxication and was investigated for driving under the influence, He was later determined to have a blood alcohol level four times the legal limit of .08
The driver was cited on an outstanding warrant and also for driving under the influence, subsequently he was transported to Natividad Medical Center for a mental evaluation.
