My neighbors keep a rooster in their backyard. Is this legal?
No. The Salinas Municipal Code prohibits any fowl or livestock to be kept as pets. This includes pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, etc. Roosters are especially bothersome because of the noise they create and the fact they are sometimes used for cockfights and gambling.

This is a follow-up press release to the investigation of the homicide that occurred on Saturday, August 10th at 4:17 pm on Eucalyptus Dr in the City of Salinas. A press conference will be held at 1:00 pm today at the Salinas Police Department to discuss the incident and announce the arrest of three suspects related to the incident. There will be no further information put out until that time. Thank you for your understanding.

On Saturday, August 10th at 4:17 pm Officers responded to a report of a victim of a shooting at the intersection of Eucalyptus and Parkway. On arrival they found an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to local hospital where he died as a result of his injuries. The victim's identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Salinas Police Detectives are still looking for additional witnesses to this shooting or anyone with information regarding this incident.
