Officers responded to the victim of a shooting. When officers arrived on scene they were contacted by an person who pointed out where the victim was. Officers found Juan Diego Morales Quiroz (21) in grave condition in the parking lot just off of the sidewalk. Quiroz had been shot multiple times. Paramedics arrived and shortly thereafter pronounced Quiroz deceased at the scene.  Officers canvassed the neighborhood and could not find anyone who could provide any suspect or suspect vehicle information. Numerous people heard the gunshots but could not provide any further information. It would appear that Quiroz was walking his dog as he normally does when the suspect(s) fired numerous rounds killing Quiroz. At this time, no motive has been determined. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Salinas Police Department.

No. The Salinas Municipal Code  prohibits any fowl or livestock to be kept as pets. This includes pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, etc. Roosters are especially bothersome because of the noise they create and the fact they are sometimes used for cockfights and gambling.
