Officers responded to the victim of a shooting. They found 17 year old  Cesar Gonzalez deceased from a gunshot wound. Witnesses saw a gray van stop in front of the house.  Several shots were fired in the direction of the house before the van sped away.  The van was last seen westbound on East Market St. before it made a northbound turn onto Carr Ave.  It is the believed the van was occupied by three suspects who were all dressed in dark clothing.

This homicide occurred during peak traffic times and we believe that numerous people may have seen the van stopped in the roadway.  The Salinas Police Department is asking for anyone who may have seen the van to contact Detective Byron Gansen at 758-7137 or Detective Gabe Gonzalez at 758-7127.
