My neighbors keep a rooster in their backyard. Is this legal?
No. The Salinas Municipal Code prohibits any fowl or livestock to be kept as pets. This includes pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, etc. Roosters are especially bothersome because of the noise they create and the fact they are sometimes used for cockfights and gambling.

A vigilant citizen called police to report a suspicious vehicle occupied with three individuals injecting intravenous drugs in the area of Quilla and First Ave. Officers contacted Alex Sabino (26), Michael Rubalcava and a female occupant (22). During the investigation and subsequent search, Sabino was found to be in possession of a controlled substance that included several syringes loaded with heroin and methamphetamine. Sabino was arrested.
Ruvalcava provided false information on his identity to officers. Once his true identity was discovered he was found to be on probation and he was arrested. The female occupant was released without charges.
Both Sabino and Ruvalcava were transported to county jail and booked on their respective charges listed
