Incident: Possession of a Firearm
Report #: 13-031037
Date: Wednesday, 3/20/2013
Time: 4:22 PM
Location: 420 Central Ave, Central Park
Officers were investigating an unrelated call in the area of Central Park in the 400 block of Central Ave. when they noticed some fresh vandalism (graffiti) to the restroom walls at the park. There were several individuals nearby so the officers attempted to contact the group and investigate further. As the officers approached the group, they started to walk away in different directions, they were eventually detained.
Officers noticed one of the individuals attempted to discard an unknown object at the base of a tree. Officers discovered the object was a loaded firearm dropped on the ground by Raul Fernandez (18) who was immediately arrested. The investigation revealed the group did not appear to be responsible for the vandalism but the three had gang affiliation in Soledad.
Fernandez was later transported to county jail where he was booked on the charges of possession of the firearm and gang enhancements.
The other two adults contacted were released without charges.
