My neighbors keep a rooster in their backyard. Is this legal?
No. The Salinas Municipal Code prohibits any fowl or livestock to be kept as pets. This includes pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, etc. Roosters are especially bothersome because of the noise they create and the fact they are sometimes used for cockfights and gambling.

While doing an area check for suspects for the robbery at Denny's, Officers saw two men matching the description on Bolivar Street. One of the men, Trinidad Lara, 25, was found to be in possession of several bindles of methamphetamine as well as methamphetamine packaging material. The meth weighed in at 2.7 grams. The victim of the robbery could not ID the suspects although they were not ruled out. Lara was booked into Monterey County Jail for the drug violations.
