No. The Salinas Municipal Code prohibits any fowl or livestock to be kept as pets. This includes pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, etc. Roosters are especially bothersome because of the noise they create and the fact they are sometimes used for cockfights and gambling.

Violence Suppression Unit officers contacted two occupants of a suspicious Ford Windstar parked to the rear of the Goodnight Inn located on Work St. The investigation revealed the driver, Lorena Cervantes (21) had a warrant for her arrest and she was arrested . The male occupant in the vehicle was released.
Cervantes was later found to be in possession of meth as she was being processed in county jail. Cervantes was also charged with possession of a controlled substance, meth.
