No. The Salinas Municipal Code prohibits any fowl or livestock to be kept as pets. This includes pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, etc. Roosters are especially bothersome because of the noise they create and the fact they are sometimes used for cockfights and gambling.

An officer observed a Lincoln Towncar with no license plate fail to make a stop at the intersection of Chaparral St. and Linwood Dr. The officer conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Michael Robinson (35). In speaking with Robinson, the officer detected an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. He conducted a search of the interior and located marijuana, cocaine, and a large amount of cash, indicating sales. Robinson was placed under arrest and officers obtained a search warrant for his residence. Additional evidence of sales as well as cash were located during the search. Robinson was booked into the Monterey County Jail for several drug-related offenses. The money was taken as asset forfeiture.
