My neighbors keep a rooster in their backyard. Is this legal?
No. The Salinas Municipal Code prohibits any fowl or livestock to be kept as pets. This includes pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, etc. Roosters are especially bothersome because of the noise they create and the fact they are sometimes used for cockfights and gambling.

Location: 600 block of Dallas Avenue
An occupant of a gray colored 4 door with tinted windows fired three rounds from a handgun in the 600 block of Dallas Avenue. One round penetrated a window and lodged inside of the residence. No one was injured. The occupants of the residence that was struck are not gang related. Two juvenile females that were found by officers walking in the immediate area are gang related. It is possible that they were the intended targets. Area check for the vehicle was negative.
