Location: 1200 block of North Main Street
Officers located an occupied stolen Ford Ranger pickup truck in the 1200 block of North Main St. As officers approached to contact the sole occupant in the parked vehicle later identified as James Merino (28), he locked himself in the cab and started acting irrational.
Officers surrounded the stolen vehicle and attempted to talk Merino to surrender but he refused. Officers had to break a window in order to reach Merino, pull him out and place him in custody.
Merino was transported to county jail and booked on charges of being in possession of a stolen vehicle, resisting arrest. Merino also had a felony warrant out for his arrest.
