A Salinas Police officer spotted a stolen car at Bolero St. and E. Laurel Dr. The car was reported stolen out of the city of San Jose. The driver sped away leading the officer on a short pursuit but based on the suspect's erratic driving and traffic conditions, the officer determined that the driver posed too great a danger to the public and cancelled the pursuit after the suspect entered a shopping center parking lot at a high rate of speed. Shortly after cancelling the pursuit, dispatch received a call that the suspect car had sturck a curb at Rosarita Dr. and St. Francis Wy. and two subjects were seen running from the car. A lengthy search was conducted and eventually, Orlando Gonzales Perez (20) was found and arrested. While hiding from police, Perez broke into a residence in the 30 block of St. Francis Wy. He stole clothes from the home in order to conceal his identity and tried to flee out the back before being caught. His passenger was also located eventually released. A small amount of narcotics was found in the suspect vehicle.
