My neighbors keep a rooster in their backyard. Is this legal?
No. The Salinas Municipal Code prohibits any fowl or livestock to be kept as pets. This includes pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, etc. Roosters are especially bothersome because of the noise they create and the fact they are sometimes used for cockfights and gambling.

Officers observed a white Honda Accord fail to stop at a stop sign in the area of Pacific at Del Monte Ave. Officers subsequently recognized the Honda as having been reported stolen the previous day. The driver and sole occupant, Juan Manuel Alanis (34), pulled into an apartment complex lot at 916 Del Monte Ave and quickly exited the stolen vehicle. Alanis as taken into custody a short distance away without incident.
Alanis was found in possession of burglary tool and he was unlicensed. Alanis was later transported to the Monterey County jail and booked on the listed charges.
