No. The Salinas Municipal Code prohibits any fowl or livestock to be kept as pets. This includes pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, etc. Roosters are especially bothersome because of the noise they create and the fact they are sometimes used for cockfights and gambling.

Unexploded military ordinance has been located at a residence in South Salinas. It is unknown if the ordinance is live at this time. The Monterey County Bomb Squad is on-scene with the Salinas Police Department and will attempt to detonate the item in place within the backyard. The subsequent detonation may result in a potentially loud report in the South Salinas area.
