Incident: Vehicle Pedestrian Accident
Report #: 13-100182
Date: Friday, 10/4/2013
Time: 2:36 PM
Location: 1200 block of East Market Street
A 17 year old unlicensed female driver was slowly backing from a driveway onto East Market Street. The driver did not see the 50 year old female or the four year old female walking on the sidewalk. Once the vehicle struck both pedestrians the older female tried to pull the younger one out of the way. Both lost their balance and the vehicle rolled over the four year old. Nearby pedestrians yelled for the driver to stop, which she did. She stopped just as the 4 year old was even with the rear axle. The four year old sustained second degree burns from the exhaust to both calves, her left hand and sustained minor abrasions to her face and abdomen. The older female sustained a minor scrape to her left ankle. She was treated and released. The four year old was transported to a local hospital where she is still being treated. The driver of the vehicle was issued a citation for being an unlicensed driver and her vehicle was towed from the scene.
