Report #: 13-091150

Date: Monday, 9/23/2013

Time: 8:14 PM

Location: California St & E. Lake St

A Salinas Police Officer was watching the stop sign at California St. and E. Lake St, when he observed a Silver Toyota with green paper plates run the stop sign. He went to make a traffic stop and the Toyota fled initiating a pursuit. The pursuit went throughout south Salinas and onto N/B US 101 where it reached speeds of 100 MPH. At about Best Buy, the Toyota lost control and flipped at least once, but probably more times as it rolled through the right shoulder fence and came to a stop. The three suspects suprisingly were not hurt and exited the vehicle and then fled on foot through the Best Buy Parking lot. They were able to jump the wall that borders the mall and the neigborhood just south of the mall. The Northridge Park apartments were searched with negative results. An anonymous person said they saw the suspects jump the wall towards Cuevas Circle, which is just west of the Northridge Park apartments. Salinas Police officers along with CHP and S.O. relocated to that area and set up another permiter. A Salinas K9 Officer and others started a yard to yard search and eventually flushed the three suspects out onto Cuevas Cir where several Salilnas Police officers were holding the perimeter. All three suspects were quickly taken into custody. They were identified as, parolee Jeremie Aguilera (20), probationer Joseph Garcia (20) and out on bail, Oswaldo Ruiz (20). All are Norteno gang members and all were booked into Monterey County Jail for multiple charges.
