My neighbors keep a rooster in their backyard. Is this legal?
No. The Salinas Municipal Code prohibits any fowl or livestock to be kept as pets. This includes pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, etc. Roosters are especially bothersome because of the noise they create and the fact they are sometimes used for cockfights and gambling.

Location: East Laurel Drive east of St. Edwards Drive
Officers were dispatched to the above location regarding a vehicle v. pedestrian collision. The pedestrian, a Hispanic female adult, in her 20's, tried to cross the eastbound lanes of East Laurel Drive. She stepped directly into the path of an eastbound passenger car. The impact forced her into the windshield and was she thrown at least 25 feet. The driver of the vehicle was very cooperative and did not appear to be not under the influence. The pedestrian sustained major head trauma. She was flown to a bay area hospital and is listed in very critical condition.
