Report #: 15-020023
Date: Tuesday, 2/3/2015
Time: 4:38 PM
Location: N. Main St / Harden Pkwy
On 2/1/15, a 17-year old female took a family member's car without permission. That same day, a similar car was used in an armed robbery in the parking lot of a shopping center on E. Alisal St. In that case, two females asked to borrow a man's phone. When he agreed, the females took the phone and ran. The victim gave chase and a male suspect exited the suspect car and pointed a black semi auto handgun at the victim before all suspects drove away.
This afternoon, an officer spotted the stolen car on N. Main St. Knowing this vehicle matched the one used in an armed robbery, a high-risk traffic stop was made. The driver, Marcelino Quinonez (18) was arrested without incident and a black, replica semi auto pistol was found under the driver seat. He was eventually booked into Monterey County Jail. The original 17-year old female suspect was also arrested without incident. She is on probation and eventually booked into Juvenile Hall. A female adult passenger was arrested for outstanding warrants and another female adult was released without charges along with her 1 1/2 year old son.
Officers are continuing their investigation to determine if these individuals were responsible for the armed robbery.
