Attempted Murder - Shooting

Salinas Police Officers were arriving on Caoba Way on an unrelated welfare check.  They were flagged down by a person who had just witnessed a shooting nearby.  Officer's arrived and located blood and evidence of a shooting.  The hospital's were notified and shortly thereafter SPD was advised of the arrival of a shooting victim at Natividad Medical Center.  The victim had been seated in his vehicle in front of his residence when he was approached by the suspect who was described as a Hispanic male, 25-27 years of age, 5-10/5-11 140-150 lbs wearing dark clothing.  The suspect shot the victim in the face and in the arm.  The victim was immediately transported to the hospital by a relative in a private vehicle.  The suspect fled on foot and was last seen running southbound on Rider Avenue.  The suspect is in stable condition.  This shooting is being investigated as being gang related.
