On 1-11-2020 at 12:55 am, Salinas Police officers responded to a report of a vehicle roll over collision at N. Davis Rd and Auto Center Circle. Once on scene, officers located a Mitsubishi Montero on its roof near the intersection. Several occupants were outside of the vehicle and advised the officers there was still a juvenile trapped in the vehicle. The ambulance crew arrived on scene and determined the juvenile (15) was deceased.

The other four occupants of the vehicle also sustained injuries. The driver, a 15-year-old juvenile suffered a head injury, Josselyn Basillo (18) suffered a head injury and general complaint of pain, a 13-year-old passenger complained of leg pain, and another 15-year-old passenger complained of neck pain.

The driver and surviving passengers were transported to Natividad Medical Center for treatment. The 13-year-old with leg pain was eventually transported to the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center for further treatment.

It appears that the vehicle was traveling at a speed too fast to safely negotiate the curve of N Davis Road. The driver lost control of the vehicle, rolling onto its roof. The investigation is ongoing.
