At approximately 7:48 PM, officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Granada Avenue. Officers responded to the 1200 block of Grenada Avenue and located, 37-year-old Abdelwahed Rahali, with multiple gunshot wounds. Rahali was transported to a local hospital and was pronounced dead.

While officers were conducting the investigation and area check, a Community Service Officer (CSO) observed a suspicious 17-year-old male with a backpack walking in the area of Tampico Avenue and Rainer Drive. The CSO alerted Officers and directed their attention to the suspect and his suspicious activity. Officers contacted the suspect and found he was wearing similar clothing and matched the description of the shooting suspect. He was arrested and transported to the Salinas Police Department.

The investigation determined the 17-year-old was the suspect in the homicide. He booked into Juvenile Hall on charges of murder and possession of a concealed firearm.
