Location: 169 Orchard Ave.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired with victims down. When they arrived they found a twenty four year old victim with a gunshot wound.  They also found Jorge Mosqueda (23) suffering from a gunshot wound.  Preliminarily  it appears as there was only one suspect who was seen running from the area after the shots were fired.  Both victims were transported to Natividad Medical Center.  One victim was treated and released. Mosqueda was rushed into surgery where he later died . At this time, it is not clear what the motive is.  There were numerous people in and around the apartment complex at the time of the shooting.  Anyone who may have seen or heard anything is encouraged to contact Detective David Poulin at 758-7270 or Detective Arlene Currier at 758-7125.  Anonymous tip information can be left on the Salinas Police Department Crime Tip Line or the We-Tip Hotline.
