Officer Involved Shooting

On 02/01/19, at approximately 10:35 PM, County Communications received a 911 call from an unnamed caller reporting that an unknown subject just pointed a gun at customers at 1516 Constitution Blvd.
Five officers arrive on scene within minutes and attempted contact with the suspect in both English and Spanish. Shortly thereafter there was an officer-involved shooting. No officers were injured, and the suspect was transported to a local hospital and is being treated for gunshot injuries.
Per Department protocol, the Monterey County DA Investigators assumed responsibility for the investigation. There were people at the scene who witnessed the events and are cooperating with DA investigators. All five officers were wearing Body cameras and the video has been preserved as evidence as part of the DA Investigation.

No. The Salinas Municipal Code  prohibits any fowl or livestock to be kept as pets. This includes pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, etc. Roosters are especially bothersome because of the noise they create and the fact they are sometimes used for cockfights and gambling.
