Officer Involved Shooting Update: Names of Officers

On March 1, 2019, at approximately 10:45 am, Salinas Police officers were called to the 1000 block of E. Laurel Dr. on a report of a disturbance involving weapons. Officers arrived and contacted Brenda Rodriguez Mendoza (20) who had barricaded herself in a vehicle. She was the sole occupant in the vehicle. At 1:34 pm, officers were involved in an officer involved shooting. Mendoza was pronounced deceased at the scene.

As per established protocol, the Monterey County District Attorney's Office is conducting the officer involved shooting investigation.

Salinas PD Chief Adele Fresé has released the names of the officers involved:

Bryan McKinley 15-years law enforcement experience

Carlo Calupad 14-years law enforcement

Robert Miller 11-years law enforcement experience
