Location: 900 block of Acosta Plaza

A light colored minivan stopped, the side door slid open and a suspect began firing at a group of men standing in a carport in the 900 block of Acosta Plaza. Approximately 10, large caliber rounds were fired striking three people, 2 cars and one building. A 16-year old male was transported to a local trauma center with at least four gunshot wounds from his leg. A 21-year old male was taken to the same trauma center by his sister with a gunshot wound to his left hand. A 12-year old male was treated at the scene for a grazing wound to the back of his upper leg. None of the injuries were life-threatening. After the shooting, a witness got in his vehicle and chased the minivan from the area. The witness eventually caused a traffic collision at E. Laurel Dr. and N. Sanborn Rd. Due to the collision, the suspect was able to get away. This case is being investigated as gang related and anyone with information is urged to call the Salinas Police Department.
