Do you wish you could talk to someone in charge at the police department? You can! You can arrange a meeting with one of our chiefs to talk about anything at all, in a comfortable setting convenient to you.

Just fill out the short form below. Or if you prefer, call us at (831) 758-7286. We’ll work with you to arrange a time and place to meet with Chief Kelly McMillin, Deputy Chief Dan Perez or Deputy Chief Terry Gerhardstein.

Please bring up to 5  guests if you’d like — you can enter their names below. We’re keeping the group size small in order to make sure everyone has a chance to participate. If you feel you need more than 5 guests, please enter the extra names in the "Topics and Notes" box below and we'll try to accommodate.

My neighbors keep a rooster in their backyard. Is this legal?
 
No. The Salinas Municipal Code  prohibits any fowl or livestock to be kept as pets. This includes pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, etc. Roosters are especially bothersome because of the noise they create and the fact they are sometimes used for cockfights and gambling.
